FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
A Nigerian Senator, Sani Ahmed Yerima sponsored a bill in the senate that legitimises child marriage in Nigeria. This however caused a lot of reactions and Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello used sports to fight child marriage through an outreach at the Utako village on July 23, 2013 to lend her voice.
She said, “SchoolAGirl Using #sports as the only universal language to empower young girls by sending them to the classroom”
“Give a girl a pen, not a penis; give them a healthy life not UTI, allow a girl the right to life, because the denial of living is a denial of right to live”
However, she lectured the girls as well about the importance of school education, sex education and general wellness, they were advised to pass the message across to their friends and parent.
The law was not approved in Nigeria, glad we also add our voice.
