FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
Menstrual Hygiene Day was initiated by a German based non-profit NGO WASH United in 2013 with an aim to benefit women globally.
As we know that poor menstrual cycle caused by a lack of education, persisting taboos and stigma, limited access to hygiene menstrual products and poor sanitation infrastructure, health, overall status of women and girls around the world. Due to which millions of girls and women are not able to reach to their potential.
The theme for Menstrual Hygiene Day 2019 is “Its time for Action.”
The theme emphasizes on the urgency of this public health issue and also highlights menstrual hygiene to empower the women and girls of the world so, that they can be able to unlock their economic and educational opportunities.
FAME Foundation celebrated the World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Abuja on May 28, 2019. Our Volunteers Coordinator,Ms Folake Oyebade demonstrated on the use of sanitary towels to rural girls and women during our outreach in commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2019 and also at a school in Utako.
