FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation organized a “generation equality football match” in commemoration of International Women’s Day, a day set aside by the global community to celebrate the uniqueness of every woman on earth.
The IWD 2020, is an annual event that is scheduled March 8; FAME held the friendly football competition on March 5 , 2019 at the Area 3 football pitch.
The Football match brought women from different classes, spheres and background. It also gave everyone woman a sense of belonging and the consciousness of their common goal.
The football event was an all-female tournament consisting of 6 teams;
TEAM NUJ( Nigerian Union of Journalists)
TEAM US (Embassy of the United State of America)
TEAM BHC( British High Commission)
TEAM UN Women(United Nations)
TEAM FAME ( AMAC, Advocates and FAME Volunteers)
TEAM HELPLINE (Helpline foundation management and volunteers
The football match was kick-start by the Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Paulen Talen and Louis Auta, a physically challenged woman/advocate and founder/CEO of Cedar Seed Foundation.
The International Women’s Day was sponsored by FAME in partnership with the British High Commission, Global Sports Mentoring Program, Nigerian Army, Bells Echo initiative, UN Women, Izzabites, Culus Eye Clinic, EVA Nigeria, Embassy of the United State of America and the Nigerian Red Cross.
The event featured;
Free Eye test and counselling
Free malaria test
Free blood pressure check.
Distribution of male and female condom and lesson on how to use it.
Health talks
Dance, Cheerleading and much more
All funds gotten from the event especially from sales of ticket will be channeled to supporting girl child education and ending child marriage under the PLAYit DREAMit project.
