FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
This week’s edition of #PlayitDreamitTuesday, was an unscripted session, streamed live on Facebook. We had Anna Mambula, Programme Manager at FAME foundation and Garba Goodness, Administrative Officer at FAME Foundation, and we discussed and answered sport related questions.

Q1: Some persons have been asking what is Play it Dream it all about?
A1: Well, as we all know Play it Dream it is an initiative of FAME Foundation, using sport as a tool to achieve #SDGs 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10
Q2: Impressive, but why use sport for development
A2: Sport is a universal and a unifying language that individual regardless of their tribe, culture, race, religion understands. Also sport can be used as a tool to drive for gender equality.
Indeed, sport is an excellent tool used to drive for gender equality.
Q3: Sport has numerous benefits ranging from health, physical etc. what are the other benefits of sport.
A3: Well, apart from health and physical benefits, sports have the ability to improve our mental health, social live, bring out our potentials and boost our self-esteem and confidence.
When girls play sport they develop essential life skills such as, their confidence, leadership and team work.
Q4: What has Play it Dream it been up to?
A4: Play it Dream it has been working so hard to bring about change in our society, some of our activities and programs include hiking against rape, yoga against rape, IDG 2020: football week, #PlayitDreamitTuesday, organizing female only football tournaments, etc
Q5 : Girls who love to engage but are not able to, what do you think is their challenges
A5 : The major challenges girls face in sport is support is lack of support from their parents, guardian and society, lack of education, sporting facilities .
Q6 : What is your advice to girls who wants to engage in sport.
A6: Girls who wants to engage in sport should have education, entrepreneurship skills and positive attitude as their back up plan in their career. Also, have believe in yourself, chase your dreams and put yourself out for opportunities
