FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME foundation held her first HerSTEM training on the 7th of May, 2021 at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Maitama, Abuja.
Attendance were taken upon arrival with a total of 40 girls, 1 teacher, 3 ad-hoc staff and 2 FAME Foundation staff.
Being the first training session, participants were briefed on the training rules and regulations and class representatives were elected. Antonia Enejo emerged as the class representative, with Joy Mohime as assistant class representative.
Mr. Benjamin Wellington started the first class on Basic Application Operation, at exactly 9:20am, as he introduced participants to the computer with the aid of projector and visual teaching materials. He was able to communicate aptly and effectively, with the aid of a sign language interpreter, giving room for questions, contributions and interactions.
At 11:00am, participants were served breakfast after which the class session continued. Afterwards, participants were accessed on what had been taught so far.
Furthermore, participants were also guided to try basic computer functions, such as pointing out the location of a disc drive and how to open it, beginners introduction to Microsoft word, introduction to mastering the keyboard/typing and how to shut down a computer.
The class session was made colorful by the gift bags sent by Her Excellency, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President for the participants through her representatives. She also sent her regards to the participants and wished them a fun-assimilating session.
The class ended with a brief class assessment, after which the participants were served lunch packs and encouraged to study all they were taught before the next class, which is to hold on Friday, May 21, 2021
