The insecurity issues currently faced in the country is a very challenging one that has left every citizen in fear of what will befall us as a Nation.

Amidst the disturbing and worrisome news concerning security challenges in the country, is the abduction of Mrs. Daramola Onyeka Martina, a Special Education female teacher in Abuja.

Mrs. Daramola was taken away at gunpoint, after her abductors gained access into her residence through the back door using a sledgehammer to destroy the door. Contact was established with her abductors late evening of Tuesday 8 June, 2021, with them demanding N10 million as ransom.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kuje Branch, Comrade Ngbede Ochoche Anyebe, said negotiation is still ongoing.

FAME Foundation calls upon the Government and everyone to address this worrisome issue. The lives of citizens especially the likes of Mrs. Onyeka, who have given their all in the service of the special people in our society are at risk. All hands need to be on deck to resolve these long-lasting challenges and bring an end to these evil and threatening acts.

This despicable acts need to stop and effective measure needs to be taken to put things right in our nation. “Arise O Compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey, to serve our Father’s land, with love and strength and faith” Mrs. Daramola has served her father’s land and given her intelligence to the service and stewardship of her dear country. It is time to put our strength firmly together in one voice and unity, and call out for her FREEDOM.

Save Onyeka Martina!
