HerSTEM Educational Tour: July 29, 2021.

FAME FOUNDATION held her bi-monthly HerSTEM Educational Tour on July 29, 2021, at the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Wuye, Abuja.
Participants, staff and volunteers of the HerSTEM Initiative, convened at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Maitaima, Abuja for pick up and they were transported by the available tour bus to the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.


For July’s batch, a total number of 20 participants, 1 teacher, 2 sign language interpreters, 1 volunteer, 2 ad-hoc staff, and 3 FAME Staff were in attendance.
On arrival, the HerSTEM team and participants were warmly received and ushered in to the conference hall by the NCAIR security team for a brief welcome meeting.


Engr.Yau Isa Garba, the National Director of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, welcomed everyone in attendance. He stated that they are proud to be in partnership with the FAME foundation for the HerSTEM Initiative for women and girls with disabilities. He also stated that, the agency is a firm believer of innovation and all ideas are welcomed and they will offer their assistance towards the empowerment of women and girls with disabilities.


Ms. Aderonke Bello, the Executive Director FAME Foundation appreciated the Director in attendance and gave a brief introduction of the HerSTEM Initiative and the work currently going on for women and girls with disabilities.
“I encouraged all the participants in attendance to ensure they make the most of this opportunity and learn from it and I myself is also excited to learn”, she said
Following the meeting, a tour guide was assigned and he gave the participants a tour of the technological facilities, PCB lab and the robotics laboratory. The participants were also taught on how to design a robot, how to control a robot from a mobile device through a Bluetooth and many more.


Afterwards, the students took turn to individually practice what they learnt while lunch was served. At the end of the tour, HerSTEM team and the participants took pictures with the staff of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
The next HerSTEM class is set to hold on August 6th, 2021.
