Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has forwarded a Bill for Political Offices Gender Composition 2021 to the Kwara State House of Assembly for consideration and passage.
This was contained in a letter from the Governor addressed to the House Speaker, Engr Salihu Yakubu-Danladi, as read today during the plenary session.
The Bill seeks to regulate gender representation and diversity of people of the state in appointments in certain political offices in line with Section 208 subsection 4 of the constitution.
The governor urged the House to accord the bill usual consideration and quick passage.
Upon reading the letter, the Speaker referred the Bill to the House Committee on Rules and Business to slate it for first reading in the next legislative sitting.
