FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
Women and girls in science are celebrated across the globe on the 11th of February, every year. The day was adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to recognize the critical role women and girls have to play in science and technology and also make room for equal access participation for women in scientific and technological fields.
Over decades, STEM fields have seen a significant gender gap all over the world. Although women have made progress by increasing their participation in higher education, they remain under-represented in the field of science and technology.
The theme for the 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science is “Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Water Unites Us” and it aims to recognize the role of women and girls in science, not only as beneficiaries but also as change agents, especially in accelerating progress towards the achievement of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
It emphasizes the need for all to join hands together towards sustainable improvements in access to clean water and proper sanitation of our environs.
Women and Girls in Science should be encouraged and supported.
FAME Foundation calls on every individual, government agency, civil society organization, and international organization to join hands together to support the efforts of women in increasing access to clean water and conducive environments for all.
