FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
Global warming is placing our planet and future generations at risk. Meeting the scale of the challenge requires action by all sectors to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. Around the world, governments, cities, and businesses are taking bold climate action, leading the way towards a healthier and more sustainable future.
By employing solutions to global warming, individuals will be improving and contributing to public health, promoting social justice, preserving natural resources, creating reliable sources of energy, and contributing to society and the economy, as a whole.
In her statement, Ms. Aderonke Ogunleye Bello, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, said sports, both at the elite and grassroots levels, have a significant part to play in combating climate change.
“As one of the greatest conveners of people in our society, sports can play a role in championing progress and leading by example. Organizations that are most innovative and make the most progressive steps can gain a competitive advantage over their peers”, she said.
To contribute to the global discussion on Sports and Climate Change, FAME Foundation is organizing its first edition of the Green Ball Webinar under the Green Ball Project of the organization.
The Green Ball Webinar brings together experts in the fields of sports, climate change, research, and other stakeholders to engage in intellectual discussions concerning sports and climate change, particularly using sports as a tool to raise awareness of climate action in accordance with the Sports for Climate Change Framework at the COP24 conference and to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Accords.
Panel sessions will discuss how sports can be a platform for achieving a sustainable green climate. Such discussions will take place across three thematic areas, addressing climate change, the role of sports in climate change, and a roadmap to sustainable green Africa.
The discussions will allow for an exchange of views between high-level representatives in diverse domains, including sports stakeholders, climate change experts, policymakers, representatives from international organizations, academics, advocates, journalists, independent experts, and the public.
The webinar will hold on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:00 GMT+1. The webinar will be live streamed on Youtube.
