International Youth Day, commemorated annually on 12 August, is an awareness day designated by the United Nations to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.
Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages, this year’s International Youth Day theme, seeks to emphasize the need for action across all generations to accomplish the SDGs and ensure no one is left behind.
In addition to highlighting these obstacles to intergenerational cooperation, the 2022 Int’l Youth Day also calls attention to ageism, which affects young and old people with negative repercussions on society.
The world needs to utilize the full potential of all generations to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals. To ensure that “no one is left behind,” we must work together to promote effective and equitable intergenerational relationships and partnerships while addressing global concerns.
Generational unity is essential for sustained development. It will be simpler to enact policy reforms if the issues that obstruct youth development are well understood.
FAME Foundation commends the youths actively participating in nation-building and sustainable development and urges others to join the wagon by being more involved in issues of national concern. We also call on the older generations, government, and organizations to work together with the youths for a better and sustainable future.
