FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation, in partnership with Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA), organized a three days capacity training practical for coaches and referees. The training was held at HerSTEM Innovation Center, Jabi, from October 20 to October 22, 2022.
American Football is a very unfamiliar sport in Nigeria. In light of this, the program was designed to prepare participants to become coaches and referees who will establish leagues for youths between the ages of 14 and 18 in their local grassroots communities and schools.
Participants were trained on the basics of the game, covering an introduction to the game, its governing associations, different forms of American Football (contact and non-contact game), and the rules and regulations of the game.
The highlight of the game is the moral discipline it inculcates in the players.
Following the last day of the training, participants set up leagues in their various schools and IDP camps with the guidance of Coach Lawrence.
The established leagues will practice ahead of the Nigerian Secondary School Football League tournament in the upcoming months.
