The fifth International Day of Education also known as World Education Day is celebrated annually on 24 January. This year, it is celebrated under the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education”.
Education plays an integral role in shaping our future and quality of life. It provides stability and is something that no one can ever take from you. It not only helps an individual become a better person but also helps in getting a better-paid job and knowing the differences between good and bad things.
The country celebrates this most important aspect of our lives as an international event across the globe. Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. The main purpose of education is to provide the opportunity for acquiring knowledge and skills that will enable people to develop their full potential and become successful members of society.
International Day of Education is a platform to showcase the most important transformations that have to be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful futures. It will generate debate around how to strengthen education as a public endeavor and common good, how to steer the digital transformation, support teachers, safeguard the planet and unlock the potential in every person to contribute to collective well-being and our shared home.
Education is a great instrument that not only improves our ability to grasp things but also provides us with a different perspective on things. It empowers us to make sound decisions, educates us on global challenges, and inspires us to make the world a better place.
Mrs. Aderonke Ogunleye Bello, Executive Director, FAME Foundation urges all families to prioritize education by encouraging and sending their children to schools to prepare and build them for a better and brighter future.
