FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.

The National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is a day of commemoration celebrated annually during the first week of February to honor the progress made and the ongoing fight for equality for women in sports, to recognize the achievements of female athletes, and to acknowledge the influence of sports participation on women and girls.
The festival inspires women to reach their full potential and emphasizes the value of physical activity.
It is a day set aside to honour the accomplishments of female coaches and athletes, also it recognizes how sports may help women realize their full potential.

Through the Play it Dream it Initiative, FAME Foundation has been using sports as a tool for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, improving girls’ well-being, improve access to quality and affordable education, reducing early marriage, promote gender equality, and contribute to the reduction in inequalities among girls in Nigeria.
“On this day, we are urging all sport administrators to improve and provide better welfare packages for women and girls in sports, to ensure that their needs are prioritized, boundaries are respected, and to ensure equity,” Executive Director of FAME Foundation, Ms. Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello says in Abuja.
“Sport is for everyone, it knows no color, gender or background, played by all and sundry, and every athlete involved in sports is supposed to be accorded due respect and benefits equally, she concludes.
