FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation hosted its annual Women and Sports Dialogue in honor of International Women’s Day 2023.
The yearly dialogue was held in Abuja at the VIP lounge at MKO Abiola Stadium, on March 25, 2023.
The purpose of the event was to discuss how women’s sport can improve as well as how sport can be utilized as an effective tool to advance gender equality and equity narratives to the benefit of women’s sports and athletes.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, welcomed everyone to the fourth edition of women and sports dialogue and also congratulated Nigeria on their qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
She also commended Australia and New Zealand for preparing to host the World Cup in their respective countries and further praised FAME partners, the MacArthur Foundation, the Australian High Commission, and the Nigerian Football Federation, for working together with FAME to accomplish so much.
Madam Leann Johnston read a message of goodwill in which she mentioned that Australia and New Zealand were co-hosting the FIFA World Cup. She also said that the event was the biggest women’s sporting event in the world by a significant margin, garnering enormous interest both domestically and abroad. She also stated that it was an important opportunity for all women to demonstrate their talent and abilities, and that all nations should support this participation.
The conference featured two panels, namely:
Panel 1: Achieving Gender Equality through sports.
Panel 2: Women World Cup 2023: Developing a viable commercial and impactful blueprint for women football development.
Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Choice Ufuoma Okoro, Shina Phillips, and Mary Onyali OLY participated in the first plenary session on Promoting Gender Equality through Sport.

The second plenary session on Developing a Viable Commercial and Impactful Plan for Women’s Football Development featured Lawyer Paul Edeh, Dupe Shabi, and Dr Victoria Nlemigbo esq.
Second Plenary session
The Women and Sports dialogue was highly successful and provided a platform for bringing up matters like gender equality, the effects of sports participation on women and girls, and the fight for women’s equality in sports.
