FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation, in collaboration with Laureus Sport for Good, held their first ever boot-camp on April 30, 2023 at Area 3 football pitch, Garki, Abuja, as part of the PLAY it DREAM it initiative activities.
The program included 92 children in total, 63 girls and 29 boys, from the Kuchingoro IDP camp. The participants were eager to participate in each boot-camp training session.
The purpose of the boot camp was to help the children work together by increasing their level of sportsmanship, trust, resilience, and teamwork.
The first session began with light exercises coordinated by Play it Dream Trained Coach, Mohammed Musa. He engaged the children on sports that teaches them how to work together, establish a team, and trust in team members.
Following the light aerobics, there was a football session where the boys and girls played against one other before switching teams and playing amongst themselves.
The game boosted their energy and excitement while also fostering teamwork among children.
The mentorship program was led by Play it Dream it Curricilum-trained Coach, Ifeoma Adibe, who taught the children how to choose a career. The children were quite engaged in this lesson and seemed very interested in the topic. They were eager to discuss the professions they wished to pursue as adults, as well as why they chose each of them.
Coach Ifeoma encouraged the children to work hard towards their goal in life by going to school, listening to their teachers and working hard in their studies. She also stressed the value of picking a career early on and pursuing it. She advised the children to pick a profession they were passionate about and at ease with.
The children took part in an interactive session in which they asked numerous questions and even provided answers to some of them.
It ended on a high note and they moved to the bus for departure to their camp.
