FAME Foundation, in collaboration with Laureus Sport for Good, held its June Boot-camp on September 10, 2023 at Area 3 football pitch, Garki, Abuja, as part of the PLAY it DREAM it initiative activities.
The goal of the boot camp was aimed at helping children work together by improving their cooperation, confidence, perseverance, and teamwork.
The boot-camp serves as an avenue to educate and enlighten the children using sports as a tool to achieve this.
Mr Molabo Allen-Taylor, who led the first session, began with light exercises that taught children how to work together, set up a team, and have confidence in teamwork.
Afterwards, the boys and girls played football against one another before switching sides and playing amongst themselves. The game boosted their excitement and energy while also promoting teamwork amongst them.
Coach Morufu Nojimu Adeyemo, a Play it Dream it Curriculum-trained Coach, led the mentoring program, teaching the children how to start a career in football.
He made it a point to encourage them to be educated before pursuing a career in football.
He also urged the children to avoid football injuries and other hazards while playing. He advised them to respect their coaches and other football personnel.
Sir Mohammed Umar led a book reading session for the children, reading a book based on the Legend of Buratai.
The children were taught brief lessons on committing to self-improvement.
The book reading session also encouraged the children to listen more and to let excellence be their trademark wherever they go.
The children took part in an interactive session during which they asked questions concerning the mentorship session as well as the book reading session.
