FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
Today marks the International Day of Peace, an annual event on September 21st, emphasizing our shared journey towards a peaceful world.
Speaking to the press, Ms. Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, the Executive Director of FAME Foundation, highlighted the importance of this day, saying,
“In the face of ongoing global challenges in 2023, the International Day of Peace reminds us of our collective quest for peace. In these trying times, coming together for peace is more important than ever.”
She continued by stressing the need for unity and resilience to address global issues.
“Our world is faced with complex issues that affect us all. Unity and resilience are essential to tackle these challenges and establish a peaceful world. To ensure a better society for future generations, the world must work together and tackle global issues such as gender inequality, tribalism, extreme poverty, insecurity, and many others.”
Ms. Ogunleye-Bello emphasized the significance of building resilience, especially at the grassroots level, to sustain peace and stability. She stated,
“We must strengthen our communities, focusing on the root causes of conflicts and inequalities, to nurture peace and sustainable growth. The world is a better place when we all live together in peace.”
Furthermore, she urged investments in education, healthcare, social welfare, and infrastructure, aiming to enhance resilience across all levels and create a conducive environment for peace and sustainable development.
“The International Day of Peace 2023 calls for investments in various sectors to address the root causes of conflicts and inequalities. I urge the government, stakeholders, and individuals to contribute to this cause as we celebrate this day.”
Ms. Ogunleye-Bello encouraged individuals to embrace empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity, promote non-violent communication, peaceful conflict resolution, and reject all forms of discrimination and prejudice.
