FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
Ministry of Women Affairs Seeks Empowerment of PWDs
The Ministry of Women Affairs has called on women associations across the country to collaborate with the ministry to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Grace Njoku says the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye received the delegation from the Association of Northern House of Representatives Members’ Wives, led by its President Mrs. Yusra Idris in Abuja
According to the statement, the Minister said involvement of women associations and cooperatives through empowerment scheme was part of the Ministry’s mandate to eradicate poverty and create jobs and inclusivity in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led Administration
There is no meaningful development in the country until the lives of the people living at the grassroots are touched positively through skill acquisition, adequate enlightenment and sustainable empowerment, she stated.
Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye added that the Ministry was working out modalities to group the PWDs into various Cooperatives to make them self-reliant and entrepreneurial while also enhancing their economic growth and development.
The President, Association of Northern House of Representatives Members’ Wives, Mrs. Yusra Idris, said that the Association, was in the Ministry to seek possible areas of collaboration, especially on issues relating to women empowerment, children, the vulnerable in society as well as Persons With Disabilities
Mrs. Yusra Idris appealed to the Ministry to explore possible ways of involving women associations in capacity building programmes with a view to exposing them to the various policies and initiatives of government aimed at improving the lives of women, children and PWDs.
