FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FG Calls for More Budgetary Allocations to Children, Women
The Federal government has urged State Governments to develop dedicated budgetary allocations to the health improvement of Women and Children.
The Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Salma Anas-Ibrahim, made the call in Abuja at a symposium organised by the Development Research and Project Centre, dRPC, in collaboration with the Population Association of Nigeria to commemorate the United Nations World Population Day.
Dr. Anas-Ibrahim said the present administration under President Bola Tinubu, was committed to the rights of mothers and children including improving access to reproductive health commodities such as family planning services.
The Chairman, management committee, Association for the Advancement of family planning, Dr. Ejike Orji, who identified poverty and insecurity to overpopulation in the country, said that Nigeria needed to prioritize family planning through investing in the health sector.
The Director of Projects at the Development Research and Project Centre, dRPC, Dr. Stanley Ukpai, urged Government to invest in population census and use data to implement its various policies in other to bring development to the nation.
Highlight of the event was award presentation to 13 journalists for their entries in the primary healthcare accountability reporting media challenge, organised by the Nigerian Academy of Medicine, and the dRPC, of which Radio Nigeria’s Emmanuel Kutara was among the award recipients.
