FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation is excited to announce the launch of HerSTEM Cohort 3.0, an initiative designed to equip women and girls with disabilities in Nigeria with essential digital literacy and basic computer skills.
HerSTEM, an acronym for Her + Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, is part of our ongoing commitment to closing the gender and ability gap in technology. The program seeks to empower participants with hands-on training in areas such as Computer skills, digital system operation, Productivity software proficiency, and Internet and online communication protocols.
The 2025 project will run in three phases over a nine-month period, with each cohort lasting three months and culminating in certification and graduation. Phase 1 will focus on the basics and is designed for young women and girls with disabilities, especially those with little or no previous access to digital education. Phase 2 will provide intermediate-level training, while Phase 3 will offer advanced-level skills development. Across all three phases, participants will also benefit from mentorship and exposure to opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Speaking to the press, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, stated;
“HerSTEM Cohort 3.0 is more than a training program, it is a statement of inclusion, empowerment, and possibility. We believe that every woman and girl, regardless of ability, deserves access to the tools and skills needed to thrive in today’s digital world. This initiative is our commitment to ensuring no one is left behind in the tech revolution.”
She added,
“HerSTEM is close to our heart and it was first launched in 2021 in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in Nigeria and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The flag-off was done by the Wife of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo. The first phase trained over 40 young women. In this 2025 (3.0 cohort), we are focusing on even training more young women and girls with disabilities, who often face barriers linked to both gender and disability. Our aim remains the same to ensure equal access to science and technology for all.”
In her closing remarks, Arabinrin Aderonke encouraged the participants to embrace the vision of an inclusive digital future;
“We are building a future where every girl can dream, learn, and lead, regardless of her physical ability. HerSTEM is just the beginning, and we are excited about what these young girls/women with disabilities will achieve when given the chance.”
Through HerSTEM initiative, FAME Foundation continues to drive meaningful change at the intersection of gender, disability, and digital empowerment, reinforcing its mission to promote equality, access, and opportunity for all.
