FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation, in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good, held its monthly Life Skills Development Through Sports session on August 14, 2025, at LEA Primary School, Utako, Abuja. The program, part of the Play It Dream It initiative, brought together more than 70 participants.
The session aimed to strengthen personal growth while developing essential life skills. Activities were designed to build self-confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, resilience, leadership, and communication. Participants were fully engaged in sports-based exercises that encouraged active learning and fostered a strong sense of community.
The program began with a warm-up routine led by Coach Raphael Omale. Children jogged and stretched, enhancing flexibility and body awareness to prevent injuries. The first major activity featured a football competition that involved all participants. The match promoted teamwork and helped break down social barriers in a fun and interactive way.
Another exercise required participants to fill a basket with balls under timed conditions. This activity developed coordination, focus, and collaboration. Coach Omale guided the participants with different scenarios that encouraged quick thinking and effective cooperation. The exercises improved agility, balance, and physical fitness, while reinforcing the importance of communication, teamwork, and resilience.
A mentorship session followed, led by Ms. Blessing Nweke, on the theme Working Together as a Team: How Helping Each Other Makes Us Stronger and Gets Things Done. The session emphasized the value of teamwork and the benefits of mutual support in achieving shared goals.
Discussions highlighted cooperation, trust, and respect as essential components of building stronger individuals and groups. Ms. Nweke encouraged the children to view teamwork as more than side-by-side participation, but also as a practice of uplifting one another, sharing responsibilities, and celebrating group successes. She created an inclusive atmosphere that enabled participants to express ideas freely, build confidence, and learn from each other’s perspectives.
The program ended with a photo session that captured smiles, energy, and togetherness. These closing moments reflected the lessons learned, the friendships formed, and the commitment among participants to continue practicing teamwork beyond the session.
