Girl Child Outreach, Lagos

In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, the FAME Foundation, under its Play it Dream it initiative, organized a Girl Child Outreach at Aga Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos, on October 22, 2025. The outreach was held under the theme “Leadership in Children,” reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing confidence, self-belief, and leadership capabilities in young girls.

The session brought together forty pupils from the school, creating a safe and engaging space where they could learn, express themselves, and explore what leadership means at their age. Led by a trained FAME facilitator, the outreach featured interactive and practical exercises designed to introduce the girls to teamwork, self-esteem, and positive decision-making. The facilitator encouraged participants to speak up, take initiative, share ideas, and understand that leadership is not defined by age or status, but by responsibility, empathy, and actions that inspire others.

Throughout the session, the girls actively participated in role-play, group discussions, and reflection activities that helped them recognize their strengths and see themselves as leaders in their homes, school, and community. Many of the pupils expressed excitement and a renewed belief in their ability to lead, make positive choices, and influence their peers.

The outreach is part of FAME Foundation’s ongoing effort to use education and advocacy to empower girls across Nigeria. Beyond marking the International Day of the Girl Child, the program supports Play it Dream it’s long-term goal of inspiring young girls to dream boldly, develop confidence, and believe in their capacity to become agents of change.
