FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.

FAME Foundation Holds National Breakdance Championship Finale
FAME Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Abuja, in conjunction with the French Embassy in Nigeria, organized the National Break Dance Championship finale in Lagos as part of the activities under the Play It Dream It Initiative.
It aims to empower the youth through sports, strengthened the inclusion of young people, and vulnerable people. The event provided a stage for breakdancers, to not just showcase their extraordinary skills but also ignite inspiration and build camaraderie within the vibrant world of breaking.
A total of 32 finalists, emerging from qualifiers across Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Lagos, participated in the National Breakdance Finale. The grand finale kicked off with the Play it Dream it Capacity-Building Workshop for Break-dancers on January 13, 2024, at the Cranfield Bizhub Centre in Surulere, Lagos.
Distinguished speakers Nadine Messias, Mozez Praiz, and Funsho Olukesusi enlightened breakdancers on leadership, mentorship opportunities, sustainability practices, overall wellness, social impact, and the athletic aspects of breakdancing.
The workshop’s goal was to provide breakdancers with specialized training sessions aimed at improving fundamental techniques, mastering new moves, and refining existing skills. It also aimed to encourage participants to explore their creativity, develop their unique artistic voice within breakdancing, and to facilitate a conducive environment for collaboration, networking, and knowledge sharing among breakdancers, fostering a supportive community.
The highly anticipated National Breakdance Championship Finale on January 14, 2024, witnessed intense competition among the 32 finalists at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Surulere Lagos. Bboy Alfa emerged as the Bboy winner, while Bgirl Vicky claimed the Bgirl crown.
The winners were awarded a cash prize of 300,000 Naira each, a brand-new phone, and an opportunity to compete in an international competition in France. All participants also received certificates of participation and consolation prizes.
Speaking to the press, Ms Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, commended the passion and skill displayed in the finale. She congratulated the winners and encouraged the youth to persevere, emphasizing resilience in the face of defeat.
The project is financed by the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI – R) of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The project aims to provide support to initiatives in areas of democratic governance, culture, the French language, higher education, and research.
