FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
On May 24, 2025, FAME Foundation organized a grassroots community outreach in the Oshodi community, Ikorodu, Lagos. The event was designed to support and empower women at the local level by helping them turn their everyday skills and small capital into sustainable businesses.
The session brought together over 50 women from the community for a practical workshop titled “Using What You Have: How to Turn Your Skills and Small Capital into a Business in Nigeria.” The event focused on real-life challenges women face when trying to start small businesses and offered simple solutions to help them move forward with confidence.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Oluremi Adefemi, led the training. She shared her personal experiences and tips on how to build a business from the ground up. She talked about the importance of self-discipline, saving money, staying consistent, and being creative. She stressed that you don’t need a lot of money to start, you just need the right mindset and a plan.
Mrs. Oluremi also emphasized the importance of record-keeping, regularly learning new skills, and being patient with the growth process. Many of the women in attendance said they left the session feeling motivated and better prepared to take the next step in their business journey.
This outreach is part of FAME Foundation’s broader mission to promote women’s economic empowerment, especially at the grassroots level.
FAME Foundation remains committed to supporting women across Nigeria by creating more opportunities for learning, entrepreneurship, and long-term development.
