FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation, in collaboration with Laureus Sport for Good, held its monthly Life Skills Development through Sport session on October 9, 2025, at LEA Primary School, Garki, Abuja, under the Play It Dream It initiative.
The session brought together over 70 children who actively participated in a range of sports and mentoring activities designed to promote personal growth and life skill development. The focus for the month centered on building self-confidence, self-esteem, and teamwork through fun, interactive, and inclusive exercises.
Participants were introduced to activities aimed at strengthening key attributes such as resilience, leadership, communication, and collaboration, while also fostering a strong sense of community among the children.
Coach Jeffrey Edung led the warm-up session, which included jogging and stretching exercises to prepare the body for physical activity and prevent injuries. The first activity featured a ball-passing drill, encouraging teamwork and coordination among participants. The children then took part in a football competition, a lively and enjoyable way to promote cooperation and break social barriers.
Another highlight of the day was a basket-filling challenge, where children worked together to fill a basket using balls. The exercise tested their coordination, focus, and communication while enhancing physical agility and balance. Each activity contributed to reinforcing essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience.
The mentorship segment, facilitated by Ms. Exploit Ofem, focused on time management. She began by discussing why time management is important, explaining how effective planning can reduce stress and improve both academic and personal performance.
Participants were encouraged to reflect on how they currently spend their time. Ms. Exploit guided them to identify habits that waste time and brainstorm ways to make better use of their day. She introduced practical strategies such as creating daily schedules, setting priorities, and using short breaks to stay refreshed and productive.
To make the session relatable, Ms. Exploit shared real-life examples—such as planning study time before play, using simple to-do lists, and setting achievable goals for each day. She also emphasized the value of discipline and consistency, explaining that managing time effectively can help them complete schoolwork, participate in sports, and still have time for rest and family.
The children were deeply engaged, asking thoughtful questions and sharing personal challenges they face in managing time. The facilitator offered encouragement and personalized advice, helping them understand that success requires both effort and structure.
An interactive question-and-answer session concluded the event, allowing participants to reflect on the day’s lessons, share what they had learned, and express how they intended to apply the insights in their daily lives.
The session created an energetic, supportive, and educational environment that strengthened both physical and mental skills among the participants. The children left the event more confident, motivated, and better equipped with practical tools to manage their time and work effectively in teams.
