Lagos PWDs Seek More Digital Skills Development Training

Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) from Lagos State have called on the government and the private sector to extend digital skills development training to them, in order to empower them to become self-reliant and productive.

They made the call at the end of a two-day training session, organised for PWDs in Lagos, and facilitated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

“We are grateful to NCC and to NCC’s Consultant, Fornido Development Company, for the hands-on training on digital skills. We need more training. It should not be a one-off training. We need the private sector and the government to organise regular training for us,” some of the participants said.

Lead Facilitator, Digital Citizenship Training at Fornido Development Company Limited, Binta Gali, who trained the PWD participants in Lagos, expressed satisfaction over the willingness of the participants to learn new digital skills.

According to her, she has passion for teaching and will continue to share that passion with people that are willing to learn new things that will better their lives.

In his address on the first day of the training session, Programme Manager, Christian Blind Mission (CBM) Country Office Nigeria, Mr. Michael Idah, said the training would advance the vision of a society, where every person, regardless of disability, has equal opportunity to participate and thrive in the digital age.
