FAME FOUNDATION held her weekly HerSTEM training on June 18, 2021, at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Maitama, Abuja.
Total attendance were thirty-eight (38) participants, one teacher, three sign language interpreters, two ad-hoc staff, and the FAME team.
The class started at exactly 9:00 am, with Mr. Excel Kolawole as he continued on the web design course, majorly teaching the participants how to build their websites.
Participants were served breakfast at 11:09 am, and they had a mentorship session anchored by Mr. Mike Abwami, a Mental Advocate and Developing Communicator. He mentored participants on how to rise above their disabilities and be the best they can be. Using his life as a case study, he shared how Persons living with Disabilities experience challenges and how to battle and conquer those challenges. Participants drew cogent lessons from his experiences.
It was indeed an engaging session as participants were asking questions during the mentorship session, with Mr. Mike making sure to respond to all the questions and enlighten their minds on things they needed to know.
The teacher continued with the class by giving them brief assessments to ascertain their understanding of what he had been teaching them. The teacher made sure to move around each table to ensure participants were getting the class assessment correctly.
Participants were served lunch and instructed to prepare ahead of Mathematics, the next course set to commence on Friday, July 2, 2021.
