The Jigawa state High Court of Justice sitting in Kazaure sentenced the teacher after he was found guilty of the charges slammed on him.
The public relations officer of the Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, Mrs Zanab Baba Santali, in a statement she issued in Dutse said the court is satisfied with evidence presented by the prosecution side.
According to the statement “The presiding judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu has convicted one Makasusi Sunusi over the offence of rape having defiled a 5-year-old pupil*.
“The facts of the case were that, Mr Sunusi was said to have lured the 5-year-old pupil and raped her in the school where he is teaching in Kazaure town on 4th February 2021”
Mrs. Santali maintained that the convict was arrested and charged to court for the offence of rape punishable under the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014.
“The prosecution had called five (5) witnesses including a tendered Medical Report, while the defendant testified in his defence”.
She added that “honourable Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu found that the prosecution had proved their case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for the offence of rape as prescribed by Section 3 of the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014”.
