Life Skills Development Through Sport

FAME Foundation, in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good, organized its monthly Life Skills Development through Sport session on July 11, 2024, as part of the PLAY it DREAM it initiative. The event included the participation of 70 children, comprising 50 girls and 20 boys, with the goal of empowering young minds and fostering teamwork and collaboration through engaging sports activities.

The session commenced with Coach Musa Mohammed and Ms. Inyene Idiong leading the children in exciting sports activities crafted to cultivate teamwork, collaboration, and confidence. Beyond the physical aspects, these activities were designed to impart valuable life lessons, emphasizing the significance of collective effort and mutual support among peers. The activities concluded with an energetic football match, which served as a real application of the collaboration and sportsmanship values learned earlier.

Coach Ifeoma Adibe took charge of an enlightening mentorship session centered on the theme of Teamwork and Collaboration. She began the workshop by emphasizing the fundamental necessity of teamwork, emphasizing how harnessing individuals’ unique abilities and knowledge is critical to efficiently attaining shared goals. Coach Ifeoma emphasized the importance of attentive listening and encouraged the children to seek clarification via questions, creating an environment conducive to learning and comprehension.

Furthermore, the mentorship session addressed the numerous benefits of collaboration outside of sports, including its role in improving problem-solving abilities, increasing productivity, and cultivating a supportive environment among team members. The interactive nature of the event encouraged active engagement from the children allowing them to ask questions and share personal experiences gained from the sessions.
