FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation Officially launches Dance for Good Initiative
FAME Foundation officially launched the Dance for Good Initiative on November 8, 2024, building on the momentum of the Sport Envoy Program, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State. The event represented an important step in the organization’s continuous efforts to provide students with opportunities for personal growth, creativity, and physical well-being through dance.
The launch event, held at the FCT School for the Deaf in Kuje, Abuja, was met with enthusiasm. The event featured an introduction to FAME Foundation and the Dance for Good Initiative, where Ms. Inyene Idiong, gave a warm welcome to the staff and students. She also expressed deep gratitude to the school for collaborating with FAME Foundation to make this project a reality.
Ms. Kemisola Ibitoye also shared how the students’ enthusiasm during the Sports Envoy Program in May 2024 inspired the idea for a dedicated dance club, showing that the student’s interest paved the way for the initiative.
The event advanced with a motivational talk from renowned dancer and Coach Somtochukwu Okoli, who shared his dance journey, explaining what inspired him and how dance has served as a powerful tool for positive change in his life. He also highlighted the numerous benefits of dance, including improved physical and mental well-being.
Ten talented dancers, five male and five female, came forward to showcase their dance skills, inspiring their peers. Then, Coach Somtochukwu led the students through an interactive dance workshop, teaching them various dance styles and techniques harmoniously and promoting a shared rhythm and connection.
The event concluded with the students expressing their gratitude to FAME Foundation for the opportunity to showcase their talents. They expressed their excitement as they danced.
FAME Foundation also extended her sincere appreciation to the staff of FCT School for the Deaf, Kuje for their support in making this event a success.
FAME Foundation plans to continue this project by establishing dance clubs in other LEA schools in Abuja, thereby, empowering more young people through the joy of dance.
