FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.
FAME foundation firmly believe that the entire nation, businesses, communities and groups can benefit from the implementation of programs and policies that adopt the notion of women empowerment.
FAME Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Abuja, has officially launched FAME Hall of Shame, a public accountability platform designed to document sexual abuse cases and other forms of harmful conduct affecting individuals and communities.
The initiative was created in response to persistent gaps in accountability, where reported cases of abuse and misconduct are often delayed, neglected, or left unresolved, leaving survivors without justice and communities without closure.
FAME Hall of Shame will serve as a structured public record of documented cases, focusing on incidents reported through credible channels and supported by available evidence. The platform will also track the status of cases, including whether they have been reported to law enforcement, whether investigations have commenced, and what actions have been taken by relevant institutions.
Speaking to the press, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, said the initiative was developed to ensure that cases of sexual abuse and other harmful acts are not ignored or erased from public attention;
“Sexual violence remains a serious challenge in Nigeria and across Africa, and survivors often face stigma, fear, and systemic barriers when seeking justice. Silence has never protected survivors; it has only protected abusers. With the FAME Hall of Shame, we are drawing a line: those who commit acts of sexual violence will no longer hide in the shadows. We owe this to every survivor who has suffered in silence, and to every community that deserves to be safe.”
She further explained that the platform is not intended to replace legal or judicial processes, but to complement them by maintaining public visibility on cases that may otherwise be overlooked or abandoned. According to her, strict verification procedures will be applied before any case is published, relying on documented reports, complaints, and credible submissions from survivors, advocates, and partner organizations.
“Every case that appears on this platform will go through a careful verification process. We are committed to accuracy because this work is about justice, not speculation. Our responsibility is to ensure that documented harm is not buried and that survivors are not left without visibility.”
Arabinrin Aderonke also noted that the platform will function as a monitoring tool for accountability, tracking institutional responses and actions taken over time.
FAME Foundation emphasized that the initiative will operate within the bounds of the law while maintaining a commitment to the dignity, safety, and rights of survivors.
FAME Foundation called on relevant authorities, community leaders, and members of the public to support efforts aimed at strengthening accountability and ensuring that cases of sexual abuse are properly addressed.
FAME Hall of Shame represents a long-term commitment to advocacy, documentation, and public engagement aimed at improving responses to sexual violence and strengthening protection systems for women and girls across Nigeria. FAME Foundation reaffirmed its continued commitment to prevention programs, survivor support services, and sustained advocacy for stronger institutional responses to gender-based violence.
