FAME Foundation supported the official launch of The Joy of Victory, an inspiring book written by 13-year-old author Deborah Leonard Okibe, on May 24, 2025. The event celebrated the power of young voices, particularly those of girls in shaping a better future for Nigeria.

Deborah, a young writer with a passion for storytelling, began the journey of her book while she was in Primary Four at Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model School, Kubwa, Abuja. She is currently a student in JSS2 at Regina Paci Orchestra College, Abuja. Her story is a reflection of courage, determination, and the importance of encouraging girls to express themselves from a young age.

The keynote address was delivered by Kemisola Ibitoye, Director of Program at FAME Foundation, on behalf of the Executive Director, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi. Her speech, titled “The Role of Girls’ Voices in Building a Better Nigeria”, highlighted the importance of giving girls the opportunity to be heard, to lead, and to shape their communities through their stories. Girls do not have to wait until they are older or more experienced before they begin to speak up and contribute meaningfully.

Through FAME Foundation, Arabinrin Aderonke actively leads initiatives that provide mentorship, creative opportunities, and safe spaces for girls to grow, lead, and make a difference. Supporting young voices like Deborah’s is key to the FAME Foundation’s objective of creating a more inclusive and equitable society in which girls are seen, heard, and empowered to fulfill their potential.
