FAME foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional and economic wellbeing of women and girls as well as formulate programmes within the framework of national development plan with a view to enhancing the participation of women and advocate for gender parity in the society.

FAME Foundation Strengthens Advocacy for Girls in Technology and AI
FAME Foundation partnered with Space Age Innovation Hub to commemorate Girls in ICT Day 2026 event held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, on April 25, 2026, under the theme “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.” The event brought together stakeholders, civil society, students, and young girls and women to discuss the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in development.
The event provided a platform for learning, collaboration, and discussions on the opportunities AI offers in education, innovation, and workforce development, while stressing the need for inclusion in the digital space.
One of the speakers, Amina Ramallan, spoke on the responsible use of AI. She discussed the opportunities and risks associated with AI technologies and highlighted the importance of ethical use and data privacy. She advised participants not to share sensitive personal information online and encouraged them to verify information, maintain cyber hygiene, update their systems regularly, and use strong passwords. She also stressed the importance of staying informed and practicing safe online behaviour.
Engineer Chinwe Vivian Aliyu spoke on the need to move from theoretical learning to practical application. She addressed gaps in AI knowledge and skills among young people and encouraged participants, especially girls, to focus on building practical solutions that address societal challenges. She also shared examples of AI applications within her organization.
Another speaker, Zetzi, shared her journey in the tech sector and highlighted the role of mentorship and family support in her career development. Her session encouraged young girls to pursue opportunities in technology and the digital economy.
A panel discussion featured Chisom Ihebuzo Nwankwo, Aisha Guba, Jyda Labo Mahuta, Stella Uzohukwu Denis, and Engr. Amina Abubakar. The discussion focused on increasing women’s participation in ICT through practical learning, mentorship, digital safety, and support systems that help girls build careers in technology.
During the event, representatives of participated in networking sessions and connected with stakeholders across the ICT and development sectors.
FAME Foundation’s participation aligns with its goal of promoting gender equality and inclusion through initiatives such as the HerSTEM Initiative, which supports girls and women with disabilities in gaining digital and STEM skills. One of the key lessons from the event was the importance of incorporating accessibility into AI and digital solutions from the design stage to ensure inclusion.
The event also created opportunities for FAME Foundation to build partnerships within the ICT and development sectors, promote the HerSTEM Initiative as a model for inclusive STEM education, and collaborate on AI-driven learning projects such as the AI workshop project.
